Rundāle Palace
Located about 12 km west of Bauska, Rundāle Palace is one of the most beautiful palaces in Latvia. The palace was the summer residence of Duke Ernest Johan Buhren. The palace was designed by Italian Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, court architect to the Russian Empire and designer of many of St Petersburg’s famous buildings including the Winter Palace. The exterior is in the baroque style but interior is mainly rococo. The palace’s 48 rooms of 138 have been carefully restored and are open to visitors. Exhibitions are about the history of the palace, the Buhren family and other related subjects. The palace has a French-style baroque garden and park. Rundale Palace, Latvia
