Paris Department Store (Divatcsarnok) Of Budapest’s early reinforced-concrete buildings, the Paris Department Store, erected in 1909, is of special historic significance, as it was the first building in this country designed specifically as a department store. The six-storey high façade of the building fronting Andrássy Street, rising above its surroundings, was completed in the Secessionist style; the two-storey high façade towards Paulay Ede Street is, on the other hand, in a Neo-Renaissance style. The roof-terrace of the building could be converted into an ice-rink in winter. The glass display cabinets in the shops mirrored the Parisian luxuries of that time.
