Museum of Fine Arts The Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest is considered to be in the front rank of European museums. It deservedly takes a prominent place amongst the museums serving a similar function, by virtue of the diversity, and historic continuity, of its exhibits, and the multitude of masterpieces in its possession. The Museum’s core exhibitions arose through the merging of a number of large national fine-arts collections. For a long time the Museum of Fine Arts also provided a home for Hungarian artworks. Following the establishment of the Hungarian National Gallery in 1957, the two collections were progressively separated. Since 1974 the Museum of Fine Arts provides a home for all artworks, from ancient times, right up to the present day. The building is the last important edifice to be built in this country, in the Classicist-Eclectic style. Museum of Fine Arts - Budapest
