Kecskemét
Located in the centre of the country, on the South Great Plain, Kecskemét is the seat of Bács-Kiskun County. The city’s distinguishing feature is the dominance of its Secession style buildings. The Secession style Town Hall, built at the end of the 19th century, has a carillon which plays a tune composed by its famous native son –Zoltán Kodály.  Kecskemét - Old Church The “Cifrapalota” (Cifra Palace), an early 20th century Secessionist creation, is clad with majolica and mosaic ornamentation. One of the buildings which characterises Kecskemét, is the Late-Baroque style, “Main-” or “Old-” Church. The Zoltán Kodály Institute of Music, in the 18th century, former Franciscan monastery, teaches music at a tertiary level to students from all parts of the globe.  Kecskemét - Cifra Palace The imposing, romantic, Moorish style Synagogue, built in the 19th century, has an onion-domed tower. Two, among its museums, deserve special mention – the Hungarian Naïve Artists’ Museum and the Hungarian Museum of Photography.
