Contra-Aquincum These are the remnants of a Roman fortification, dating from the 4th century BC, built to protect the crossing of the Danube, the Pannonian border, and the start of the road leading to the East. So far only the northern wall of the fortification has been excavated. The south-east-corner tower of the fortification was found near the sanctuary of the nearby parish church. The remnants of the fortification can be viewed in an open-air museum located slightly below ground level.
