Floating beach bars

Carinthina: the pontoon on Lake Millstätter has been transformed into a BBQ restaurant and events platform.

The Lake Millstätter ‘beach bar’ is really an island – or more accurately a pontoon – set away from the shore, which sways to and fro in the setting sun. Once the motor boats – drawn by day to this floating island on the lake – have disappeared, the 'Fire Island' guests know they can look forward to an idyllic atmosphere, which spreads across the island: crackling fire, softly rippling waves, the sun setting on the horizon, warm sand under foot and the sizzling sound of fish on the grill.

Stylish Alpine beach lounge

Vorarlberg: Mole Hard Restaurant beckons with its newly-opened ‘Lounge del Mar’ and customised picnic hampers. The bar's white upholstered furniture and dark brown couch tables create a Mediterranean look, perfect for a sophisticated evening cocktail.

Picnic hampers come in three varieties: Classic, Premium and De Luxe. In the Classic you’ll find Voralberg delicacies such as Kaminwurzen [smoked pork sausage from the Trentino Alto Adige region of Northern Italy], Ursalzkäse [rustic salty cheese from the Bregenz Forest], and ’Speckbindele’ [beech-smoked belly bacon pieces]. The Premium variety provides all of the above, and shrimp cocktails. The De Luxe offers even more: smoked salmon, goose liver terrine and champagne. Prices range from 24 – 54 Euros per person (excl. deposit for the basket and blanket).
